Frachtcontor was founded in 1905 by Deutsches Kohlen-Depot (German Coal Depot), which had itself been established shortly after 1900 by a group of leading German shipowners, including Hamburg-Amerika Linie (Hamburg-American-Line), Norddeutscher Lloyd (North German Lloyd) and Rob. M. Sloman & Co., to transport coal to overseas depots for the bunker requirements of steamships.

Since its founding, Frachtcontor has developed into one of Germany's leading shipbrokers and maritime service providers. We offer our clients a full range of services from a single supplier, for chartering and sale and purchase of ships, with us acting as port agent or commercial manager for shipping companies.

Frachtcontor is a member of the Association of German Shipbrokers, Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), Baltic Exchange and International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO).
